From The Mappy Thing: Lesley is a one of a kind. We get the fact that she is a superstar and she recently took the silver at the X-terra World Championships and all. We get all that. What we don't get is how she seems to be so down to earth and bond with her athletes and motivate them in ways we have not seen from many other coaches. We ride with some of her athletes and the progression in their fitness is more than impressive. According to them, the care she takes with them in their training is without comparison. Kudos from The Mappy Thing.
From The BraveHeart Website: Tossing cabers and slinging rocks in the Highlands of Scotland got me here. You see, us Scots are always the underdogs. Whether it’s fighting the English in the marshes of medieval Scotland, or playing Brazil in the world cup (soccer, naturally), no one expects us to win. But win we do. How? We’ve got Brave Hearts! How did a wee Scottish lassie play on an all-boy’s rugby team, or go on to compete in ITU races around the world as a professional triathlete? Because no one told me I couldn’t. Are you ready to find your BraveHeart?
I’m Lesley Paterson, a professional triathlete and coach. Based in San Diego, California, I offer individualized coaching programs for triathletes of all levels. Together with my husband, Dr Simon Marshall, we also offer BraveHeart Brain Training -- customized plans to help you overcome race nerves, build motivation and confidence, and develop in-race mental toughness.
Lesleys Favorite Training Ride: No doubt my favorite place to train is on Palomar. Whether I am on the mountain bike on Nate Harrison Grade or riding on the road, Palomar cannot be beat. I also use this climb to test the fitness of my athletes. The ride up Palomar and Cole Grade is one that we do routinely.
